Narayanganj gas fire death toll rises to 5

Two other people, who suffered burn injuries in a fire incident at a house in Sahebapara of Siddhirganj upazila of Narayanganj on February 17, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Tuesday, increasing the death from the incident to five.

The deceased were identified as Apon, 12, son of Kiron Miah, who earlier died in this incident and Hiron Miah, 23, brother of Kiron Miah, reports UNB.

Inspector Md Bacchu Miah, in-charge of DMCH police outpost, said the victims were undergoing treatment at ICU of Sheikh Hasina Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute at DMCH and died early in the morning.

Earlier, Kiron Miah, 46, his mother Nurjahan 60, succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital on February 17. Apon’s uncle Abul Hossain Emon, 25, died on Monday.

Eight members of a family suffered burn injuries after the fire broke out at their house.

Three other victims of the incident who are undergoing treatment at the burn unit of the hospital, are also in critical condition, added the Inspector.
