NOVOAIR wants to concentrate on serving the domestic market first until the full connectivity is achieved across the country before thinking of expanding the international network, a top official said.
"From the very beginning our focus was to increase the domestic connectivity which was absent at that time. Still we could not achieve the desired level of connectivity within the country which we are trying to," said NOVOAIR managing director Mofizur Rahman.
He said that the company wants to increase the regional connectivity too. But considering the competitors' advantageous position compared to the Bangladeshi operators, the airline will not be able to sustain , he said.
Mr Rahman was answering questions on the airline's future plans during a press meet held Monday at Kurmitola Golf Club in the city.
NOVOAIR, the leading private airline of the country, organised the press meet on the occasion of official launching of the mobile app and web check-in service to make ticket purchase and travel process easier and convenient for their valuable passengers.
Hasibur Rashid, Director of NOVOAIR and other senior officials were present, among others.
He said an uneven competition has been prevailing in the aviation sector which will make the future more difficult for the private operators.
With the introduction of the app and online-check-in system, passengers can now book and purchase tickets, get information about flight status, services of Frequent Flyer Programme-SMILES. Mobile app is now available to download via App Store and Play Store.
Passengers can enjoy hassle free travel as they can complete the check in process from their home by selecting their preferred seats. Passengers can fly to the destination by collecting boarding pass.
Currently NOVOAIR operates 22 flights a week with six ATR turboprop aircrafts.
It operates daily six flights from Dhaka to Chattogram, four flights to Cox's Bazar, Four flights to Saidpur, Four flights to Jashore and one flight to Sylhet. NOVOAIR operates weekly Ten flights to Rajshahi and Four flights to Barishal.
NOVOAIR also operates daily flight to Kolkata.
