An online store for Bangladeshi SME products, www.oikko.com.bd, has started journey through an inauguration ceremony on Tuesday.
The e-commerce site was launched by Oikko Centre, the largest SME product chain store in South East Asia, said a press release.
According to the press release, Oikko wants to build online connection with 491 upazilas of the country using their digital SME showrooms in these upazilas.
They also announced to ensure all benefits of buying SME products through online.
"Thousands of unemployed young people will be trained by Oikko SME Digital Institutes for creating employment opportunity for them," the press release said.
The inauguration ceremony was held at the Media Bazar of Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Dhaka.
Prime Minister's Political Advisor H T Imam, Managing Director of Channel i Faridur Reza Sagar, Oikko Advisory Council member Rajshahi city Mayor A H M Khairuzzaman Liton, SME Foundation Chairperson K M Habib Ullah, Oikko president and prominent member Shaheen Akhter Reni was present at the ceremony.
Five successful entrepreneurs --- Belal Hossain, Runa Begum, Kohinoor Yasmin, Habibur Rahman, Shaila Sabarina received Channel SME Excellence Award during the ceremony for their contribution in boosting Bangladeshi SME products.
