Philippines assures BB full support on recovery of stolen money

The outgoing Ambassador of the Philippines Vicente Vivencio T. Bandillo assured Bangladesh Bank (BB) full support to recover the stolen money.
The envoy made the assurance while Dr A K Abdul Momen sought Philippines’ support on the recovery of Bangladesh Bank money lost in a cyber-heist in February 2016.
Dr Momen thanked the Philippines government for its all-out support to Bangladesh in getting back $15 million of the total $81 million stolen in the heist.
He expressed hope that the Philippines government would continue support to recover the rest of the amount
After a stint of six and a half years in Dhaka, the Ambassador of the Philippines Vicente Vivencio T. Bandillo will leave Bangladesh at the end of this month, said a press statement of Bangladesh foreign ministry on Sunday.
The envoy paid a farewell call on Foreign Minister at the State Guest House Padma, it added.
