Poet Naim Hasan gets Utpal Datta Smriti Puraskar

Bangladeshi celebrated poet Naim Hasan has been selected for Utpal Datta Smriti Puraskar-2019 in Indian state of West Bengal. 

The award, named after famous Bangla film actor, director and playwright Utpal Datta, will be conferred on the young Bangladeshi poet at a function in coastal resort town Digha on Sunday (October 20), marking International Hilsa Protection Campaign and Tourism Festival.

Illustrated poet and journalist Shakil Ahmed of Kolkata will moderate the event jointly organised by Diamond Harbour, Press Club and literary magazine ‘Kusumer Fera’.

Writer Nalini Bera will inaugurate the function with poet Arun Kamar Chakraborty in the chair.

Naim Hasan, who is involved with different socio-cultural and human welfare organisations, has also a big name as a social worker, donor and patron of culture.

He is former editor of Jaijaidin Friends Forum and Manob Kantha Setubandhan.

Among his special poetic works, the most worth-mentioning are ‘Atalanta Nonajol’, ‘Swapnik’, and ‘Antardah’.
