Police have arrested the headmaster of a high school who allegedly shaved heads of five male students at Madhabpur village in Sadar upazila of Thakurgaon district.

The arrestee is Abdul Jabbar, 52, the headmaster of Barrister Jamir Uddin Sircar High School and joint convener of BNP Ruhia thana unit. He was also former chairman of Akhanagar union of the upazila.

Pradip Kumar Roy, officer-in-charge of Ruhia Police Station, said Jabbar called five students of class X around 2:00pm to school on Sunday to attend an arbitration meeting and blamed them for harassing a female student of the school.

Though the students claimed that they are innocent and have no involvement in the harassment incident, the headmaster beat them up, Roy said.

Later, the students' heads were shaved by a barber in presence of local people, reports UNB.

Faridul Islam, father of one student, filed a case with Ruhia police station under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.
