Police arrest man for killing stepson in Rajshahi

Police arrested a man for killing his stepson at Senbhag village in Puthia upazila of Rajshahi district on Tuesday midnight.

The arrestee was identified as Mohammad Ali, a resident of Ekdala in Natore district, reports UNB.

Shakil Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Puthia Police Station, said Mohammad Ali converted to Muslim from Hindu seven years back and got married to a divorced woman named Bulbuli along with her seven-year-old son Rifat.

Ali took the boy to Senbagh saying that he would buy him a watermelon on Monday and killed him after slitting his throat.

He returned Natore alone and told Bulbuli that Rifat was killed in a road accident.

On suspicion, Bulbuli went to the spot and recovered Rifat's throat-slit body.

Later, police recovered the body and arrested Ali.

Confessing his guilt to police Ali said he killed Rifat following an altercation with his wife Bulbuli.

A case was filed in this connection.
