Prayer for Bangabandhu's killers: Madrasa principal in jail

A Tangail court sent a madrasa principal to jail on Sunday over seeking heaven for killers of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The madrasa principal sought heaven for the killers of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman during a special prayer in Gopalpur upazila on Saturday on the occasion of the Victory Day.

Judge of the Gopalpur Judicial Magistrate Cognisance Court Golam Kibria passed the order.

Earlier police produced Dr Faizul Amir Sarker, principal of Gopalpur Kamil Madrasa hailing from Muradnagar upazila in Comilla district, before his court.

Gopalpur upazila administration arranged a special prayer programme in the upazila Muktijuddha Sangsad office at 8am on Saturday for seeking salvation of the departed souls of the Liberation War martyrs on the occasion of the Victory Day.

According to UNB, Faizul conducted a munajat at the programme where he sought heaven for the executed killers of Bangabandhu in the presence of upazila chairman Yunus Islam Talukder and upazila nirbahi officer Dilruba Sharmin.

Later, police arrested him from the venue.
