President urges Armed Forces to maintain professionalism

President Abdul Hamid on Tuesday asked the members of the Armed Forces to maintain the utmost professionalism in their works.

The President made the call for upholding their image both at national and international levels.

"Uphold the image of the Armed Forces...help continue the country's ongoing development trend," the President was quoted as saying when the chiefs of the three services met him at Bangabhaban in the afternoon.

President's Press Secretary Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the meeting.

On the occasion of the Armed Forces Day, Chief of Army Staff General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Nizamuddin Ahmed, and Chief of Air Staff Marshal Abu Esrar paid a courtesy call on the President.

President Hamid said the armed forces are playing an important role even beyond the border in peacekeeping missions, brightening the country's image abroad.

The President, who is also the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, greeted all the members of Armed Forces and their family members on the occasion.

According to UNB, he recalled the sacrifices of the members of the Armed Forces in the Liberation War and said their activities accelerated the ultimate victory in 1971.

The President was apprised by the three chiefs of the overall activities of their respective forces.

Secretaries concerned to the President were present.
