Rain, thundershowers likely over next 48 hours

Rain, thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty, squally wind is likely to occur in most part of the country including Dhaka on Friday and Saturday, according to an official at Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

Apart from this, mild heat wave is sweeping over the regions of Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna, Jashore, Chuadanga & Kumarkhali and it may abate from some places, the official said.

Talking to The Financial Express, Abdul Mannan, a BMD meteorologist, said rain, thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty and squally wind is likely to occur at one or two places over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh & Sylhet divisions and the regions of Jashore, Kushtia & Cumilla.

The highest temperature was recorded at 36.7 degrees Celsius in Rajshahi on Friday while the lowest temperature was 20.0 degrees Celsius at Sylhet on Friday, he added.

The BMD in its weather forecast Friday evening said weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country.

In its 24-hour forecast, the Met Office said day and night temperature may fall slightly over the country.

In its outlook for the next five days, it said about no marked change.

Trough of westerly low lies over West Bengal and adjoining area, it said adding that seasonal low lies over South Bay.

The sun set at 6:21 pm and will rise at 5:35 am on Saturday in Dhaka.
