Rajshahi University imposes ban on ragging 

Rajshahi University (RU) authority has imposed a ban on ragging until further order aimed at upholding a congenial and peaceful academic atmosphere in its campus. 

A RU press release on Tuesday said many untoward and unpleasant situations happened due to ragging that also hinders academic activities. 

Besides, some of the students suffer mental problems due to ragging, reports BSS. 

The RU administration has urged all concerned not to arrange any ragging programme on the campus. It has also warned that stern action will be taken against those who will be found involved in ragging.  

Apart from this, the varsity authority has said no other batch can arrange fresher's reception function or any other view-sharing meeting with the newcomers without prior permission of their respective department chairman.
