Remove, destroy date-expired drugs by July 16: HC to govt

The High Court asked the government to destroy all the date-expired drugs after removing those from the pharmacies across the country by July 16.

The bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahsan and Justice KM Kamrul Kader on Tuesday came up with the order upon a writ petition filed a day before.

The petition follows reports that Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection found date-expired medicines in 93 per cent of the pharmacies in Dhaka city alone in last six months.

The court also issued a rule asking the authorities concerned to explain why their inaction about this menace should not be declared illegal.

Barrister ABM Altaf Hossain stood for the writ petitioner.
