Seminar on social entrepreneurship at IUB

The School of Business of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), organised a seminar on ‘Social Entrepreneurship in Universities: Unleashing its Potentials’ on Thursday at IUB campus in Bashundhara, Dhaka.

Syed Mahmudul Huq, Chairman, Bangladesh Shrimp and Fish Foundation (BSFF) was the keynote speaker of the seminar.

Prof. M. Omar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, IUB and Dr. Shahnaz Karim, Director Society, British Council also spoke on the occasion. Prof. M. Omar Rahman, in his speech, focused on skill enhancement programme derived from field experience.

Syed Mahmudul Huq, through his presentation explained the concept of ‘Social Entrepreneurship’ and urged upon students and faculties to learning social entrepreneurship, developing and practicing new course contents, providing and receiving appropriate training and subsequently giving seed money to start business at least in a small scale.

BSFF Chairman emphasized on establishing strong alliance among the academia, the industry and the government duly supported by the development partners. He informed the audience that all types of enterprises have to have positive impact on the society.

Dr. Mahfuzul Hoque Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor, Chittagong Independent University (CIU); Prof. Milan Pagon, Pro-Vice Chancellor, IUB; Deans, senior faculty members of IUB also attended the seminar.

Prof. Aminul Karim, Dean, School of Business, IUB offered vote of thanks, said a statement.
