Seven die in Philippines truck crash

Seven people have been killed and five other wounded after a truck, carrying sugarcane ploughed through a roadside eatery and five parked vehicles in a town in Batangas province of the Philippines on Wednesday.

Police said the accident occurred around 5:50am in Carasuche, a village in Taal town, about 120 km south of capital Manila.

Initial investigation showed the parked 10-wheeler truck was left unattended by its driver when it moved and hit the roadside eatery and cars.

The truck hit the victims while they were having breakfast at the eatery, news agency Xinhua reported quoting the police.

Four people died on the spot while three others succumbed to their injuries at the hospital, said police.
