Shopping malls, stores to remain open for eight hours from Friday

The government has announced that all shopping malls and stores can remain open for eight hours from April 9 to April 13 maintaining the health safety guidelines.

The Cabinet Division issued a gazette notification in this regard on Thursday.

The notification signed by deputy secretary Md. Rezaul Islam said all the shops and malls will be allowed to operate from 9am to 5pm from tomorrow till Tuesday with strictly maintaining hygiene rules.  

Meanwhile, the inoculation drive against the Covid-19 will continue as usual, the notification read.

The shops and malls have been closed since Monday as the government imposed a seven-day countrywide lockdown to stem the rising trend of coronavirus pandemic.

Traders across the country including Dhaka have been protesting since Sunday demanding immediate opening of shops.
