A passerby was run over by a bus at Nazirbazar in Dakshin Surma upazila under Sylhet division on Sunday morning.
The deceased was identified as Shamsul Islam, 32, of Dashgar village in the upazila.
Witnesses said a speeding bus ran over Shamsul, leaving him dead on the spot around 11:30 am.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Osmani Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy, said Khairul Fazal, officer-in-charge of Dakshin Surma Police Station, reports UNB.
However, police could not seize the bus as its driver managed to flee the scene, he added.
