Suspected drug pedlar dies in Mymensingh ‘gunfight’

A suspected drug pedlar has been killed during a reported gunfight with the Detective Branch of Police in Mymensingh’s Kalibari in the early hours of Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Lalu Miah, 45.

Being informed, a team of detectives conducted a drive at Kalibari Ghudaraghat Balur Char at around 1:30am, said Shah Kamal Akanda, officer-in-charge of district DB police.

Sensing the presence of police, the drug traders opened fire on them, forcing them to fire back, triggering the gunfight.

After the gunfight, the police team rescued Lalu as bullet hit.

Later, he was rushed to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead, UNB reported.

Police also recovered 150 gram heroin, 300 Yaba tablets from the spot, said the OC adding that Lalu was accused in 7/8 drug related cases.

However, Lalu's daughter Sathi Akhter claimed that her father was missing from March 1.
