Two men have been sentenced to life term imprisonment on Monday for raping a schoolgirl in Kumarkhali upazila of Kushtia in 2015.
The convicts are: Nazmul (30), and Azam alias Sagar (30), hailing from Nandalalpur village of the same upazila, reports UNB.
The Additional District and Sessions Judge Court-1 of Kushtia also fined the duo Tk 20,000.
According to the prosecution, the convict, Nazmul and Azam, abducted a minor girl from Alauddinnagar area of the upazila while she was going to take tuition by an auto-rickshaw on August 18, 2015.
The duo took the girl to a flat in the district town and raped her.
Later, the victim filed a case with Kumarkhali Police Station against the duo. Police submitted charge sheet against them after investigation.
After examining witnesses and documents, Judge Mahmudul Haque of the Kushtia Additional District and Sessions Judge Court-1 handed down the verdict today.
