The US Embassy in Dhaka is arranging another dedicated flight to the United States for its citizens and their family members who wish to leave Bangladesh amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The special flight is expected to depart Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Wednesday (June 3), the embassy said in a statement on its website on Saturday.

The final destination of this tentative flight is John F Kennedy International Airport in Queens, New York.

The embassy also urged the US citizens who wish to return to the United States to take advantage of this opportunity or be prepared to remain in Bangladesh until commercial flights with the country resume.

The Embassy will e-mail US citizens who have already registered their names on the website (https://bit.ly/35bbXtW) with a link to the booking site for this flight when it becomes available.

Passengers must provide the airline with their information and pay the airline directly for the cost of the flight using a US-based or international credit card, as per the statement.

The cost is approximately $1,700 per ticket.  If there is space available, Lawful Permanent Residents (LPRs) who have signed up on the website will also be e-mailed a link to book a seat.

“You will be responsible for any arrangements or costs (lodging, onward destination travel, local transportation, etc) beyond New York.  Unfortunately, the Embassy is unable to book any onward travel or other arrangements for you”, it pointed out

Unless one receives an email from the US Embassy in Bangladesh confirming flight, the citizens have been advised not to come at the airport in Dhaka, the statement added.
