A variety of traditional pithas, including Bhapa, Chitoi, Patishapta, Mug Pakon, Pua, Puli, are being showcased in the event. Sides of mashed spices and meat have also been put on display.

Dr Gowher Rizvi, international affairs advisor to the prime minister, attended the event as the chief guest. He lauded WEAB's efforts to give women a platform to contribute to the country.

"Possibilities are endless for such an enterprise," he said, stressing significance of organisations like WEAB for individual designers.

WEAB President Nasreen Fatema Awal thanked all members of the organisation who attended and worked for the event.

She also spoke about procedures WEAB follows to support the entrepreneurs from Dhaka and other regions.

"WEAB never marks up prices of products sent by the entrepreneurs and designers," she said.

WEAB first Vice-president Salma Masud agreed with her and wished the event success.

Former FBCCI president Abdul Matlub Ahmad was also present at the event, reports UNB.

The festival is open for everyone. It will continue until 8:00pm Saturday and is being co-hosted by Pragati Insurance Limited and Lal Teer Seed Limited.
