BNP senior leader Moudud Ahmed has threatened to publish a whitepaper on the corruption being committed during the current Awami League-led government.

"This government is not the last one, and it will have to go someday. After that, a whitepaper on corruption being committed during its rule will be published," he said.

Moudud, a BNP standing committee member, came up with the remarks while speaking at a discussion at the Jatiya Press Club.

In the whitepaper, he said, the names of ministers, lawmakers and businessmen backed by them, from the centre to district level, will be included with elaborate description of their corruption.

"They must be put on trial on that day," he said.

Moudud, a former law minister, said their party chief Khaleda Zia was convicted for political reason, not for corruption.

He alleged that now the government is plotting to delay the bail for Khaleda and prolong her stay in jail.

"Begum Khaleda Zia will surely be released on bail, no matter how much plots and strategies you (govt) resort to," Moudud said.

According to UNB, the BNP leader criticised the Election Commission (EC) saying it has no capability to hold a credible and neutral national election.

"We've sent a letter to the Election Commission (regarding PM's election campaign). The Commission has said it will assert its authority after the announcement of the election schedule. With that comment, they (EC) have exposed that they're unable to hold a fair election," he said.
