A woman and her seven-year-old son were killed after a microbus ran them over in Bagerhat’s Morrelganj Upazila.
The accident took place on Bagerhat-Morelganj Highway in the Kalikabari Dona neighbourhood around 10:00am on Sunday, bdnews24 reported quoting Morelganj Police Station OC Rashed Alam.
The deceased have been identified as Shilpi Akhter, 35, and her son, Md Omar, who was a second-grader at a local government-run primary school.
Shilpi, wife of local resident Musharraf Hossain, was on her way to drop off her son to school, police said.
“A microbus speeding towards Morelganj rammed them as they were crossing the highway. They died on the spot,” said OC Alam.
Police have impounded the vehicle but the driver has fled, he added.
