Bangladesh bags four bronzes in Int’l Physics Olympiad

Bangladesh has won four bronze medals in International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) - 2018.

A total of 447 students from 87 countries took part in the 49th ceremony that begun on Jul 21 while winners were announced on Saturday (Jul 28) in Lisbon, Portugal.

The bronze medal winners are Abrar Al Sadid Abir from Chattogram College, Irtiza Eram and Tahmid Mosaddek from Notre Dame College, and Rashedul Islam from Motijheel Ideal School and College in Dhaka.

Confirming it, Jubaer Kabir Tusher, consular assistant at Bangladesh Embassy in Beirut, congratulated the Bangladesh team saying, "Bangladesh is being ready for the future."

Congratulating them, coach of Physics Olympiad team Prof Dr Arshad Momen in his facebook post said, "Special congratulations to Irtiza Eram for making a perfect score for IPhO. We're moving forward."

Arshad termed that it's a very important achievement for the country, UNB reported.

Bangladesh has been participating in IPhO since 2011. Last year, the country won a silver medal along with three bronze and one honourary medal.
