Debating competition underway in Chittagong University

Chittagong University Debating Society (CUDS), the premier debating platform of the university, is hosting a National Debate Tournament, 'DNC-CUDS Inter-University Debate Fest 2021.'

This is a flagship event of CUDS. The theme for this year's Debate Fest is "Battle against Narcotics." 

Preliminary rounds of the event started yesterday with the participation of 28 teams and 84 debaters from renowned universities around the country. The second and final day of the event is ongoing today as two finals will be held before the ending ceremony. 

CU vice-chancellor Professor Dr Shireen Akhter will grace the ending ceremony as the chief guest. Md Anwar Hossain, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Chattogram Range will join the event as the Guest of Honour.

Md Mizanur Rahman, Additional Divisional Commissioner (Development), Joint Secretary, Chittagong District, Md Mojibur Rahman Patowari, Additional Director, Department of Narcotics, Chattogram, and Nitai Kumar Bhattacharya, General Manager, Bangladesh Television, Chattogram Centre will be joining the event as special guests.

Prof. ABM Abu Noman, Dean of the Faculty of Law and moderator of CUDS will preside over the ceremony.

The Department of Narcotics Control (DNC), Chittagong Branch has sponsored the event. DNC is the main government agency responsible for narcotics control in Bangladesh. The agency issues licenses for the import, exports, sales, transport, etc. for drugs in Bangladesh.
