Bangladesh reports 21 more coronavirus deaths, 1,508 infections in a day

Bangladesh registered 21 more deaths from the novel coronavirus in the 24 hours to 8am, taking the total tall to 5,272.

A total of 1,508 fresh infections were also diagnosed during the same period, taking the total to 364,987, said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in a media statement on Thursday.

The recovery rate rose to nearly 76 per cent with 1591 recoveries in the 24 hours under review, the statement reads, adding that the death rate remained at 1.44 per cent.

Some 1.95 million samples for coronavirus have so far been tested across the country, according to government data.

Bangladesh reported its first confirmed case of coronavirus on March 08 and death 10 days late on March 18 this year.
