The information minister has said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is engaged in a battle against militancy and corruption.

Hasanul Haq Inu said, "There will be no relief for corrupt elements nor will there be any leniency for war criminals."

Minister Inu was speaking on Wednesday at a meeting, organised by Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JASHOD), at Jaldhaka upazilla town's zero point in Nilphamari.

He said the punishment of Khaleda Zia has started a new era. Henceforth, no corrupt persons will be spared, he added.

According to him, "The BNP-Jamaat Alliance had forced a war on the state. Now they were in retreat. But they did not surrender."

Khaleda Zia's conviction and election facilitating government - all these were settled issues, he noted, adding, there was no scope for further discussions on the issue.

He thinks that Khaleda Zia was convicted, not BNP, so there was no bar to the party's participation in the poll.

Also, he called upon BNP to forget about Khaleda's release or the issue of facilitating government and join the election.

He said, "You've wasted four years talking about this election facilitating government but could not come up with a specific framework, don't waste any more time"
