The Awami League general secretary has said that BNP will lose party registration if it does not take part in the next general election.

While talking to reporters after visiting work on a rail overpass at Shashangachha in Comilla city on Saturday, Obaidul Quader said, "BNP must join the next polls. Otherwise, they'll lose their registration as a political party."

Talking about BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir's allegation that BNP is being threatened, Quader, also the Road Transport and Bridges Minister, said actions will be taken if they can come up with any proof or information to this end.

"BNP talks in the air...we won't trust those," he remarked.

UNB said the overpass, constructed at a cost of Tk 650 million, is expected to be opened to traffic in March.
