Managing Director (MD) of the International Leasing and Financial Services Limited (ILFSL) MA Khaleque Khan resigned from his post on health grounds on Wednesday night.
“We’ve been informed that our MD submitted his resignation letter to the Board of Directors on Wednesday,” a senior official of ILFSL told the Financial Express (FE) on Thursday.
On the other hand, Syed Abed Hasan, chief financial officer of the ILFSL, has been assigned to perform as acting MD of the non-banking financial institution (NBFI) until further notice, another senior official confirmed.
Sources, however, said Mr Khan, who took over responsibility as MD of ILFSL on June 14 last calendar year, was pressurised by some influential people while he tried to recover non-performing loans of the troubled non-banking financial institution (NBFI).
Prior to joining International Leasing, Mr Khan served Bangladesh Commerce Bank and at the Bangladesh House Building Finance Corporation as managing director.
