bKash Limited, the largest mobile financial service provider in the country, signed an agreement with Sonali Bank recently, facilitating bKash customers to make e-challan payment for all type of public to government fees.
Md. Obayed Ullah Al Masud, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Sonali Bank, and Kamal Quadir, Chief Executive Officer of bKash, exchanged the agreement at a programme held at the Hotel Sonargaon Pan Pacific in the city on June 3.
Md. Ashraful Moqbul, Chairman of Sonali Bank, Md. Azizul Alam, Additional Secretary of Ministry of Finance were present at the program along with the senior officials of Government A2i project, Comptroller And Auditor General of Bangladesh office, bKash and Sonali Bank.
Under the partnership, bKash customers will be able to pay the e-challan fees from their own bKash accounts without any additional charge. The customers have to fill-in the e-challan (SIG) form, then have to go to ‘payment method’ section to select ‘online payment’ to make the payment though bKash.
Md. Ashraful Moqbul, Chairman of Sonali Bank said the partnership with bKash is a huge steps towards facilitating public as people would not have to wait in queues to pay their challan. They can now pay their e-challan from their bKash account through Sonali Bank gateway without the need of visiting a bank branch.
Md. Obayed Ullah Al Masud, Chief Executive officer and Managing Director of Sonali Bank said, the opportunity to pay e-challan fee via bKash will cut cost and save time of the customers as well as Sonali Bank.
Azizul Alam, Additional Secretary of Finance Ministry said the government had taken steps to collect all kinds of government fees gradually through online payment system.
Kamal Quadir, Chief Executive Officer of bKash said bKash is complementing the bank while facilitating the payment via bKash for small ticket government fees.
He said bKash is proud to be a partner of this digital payment initiatives envisioned by the a2i (Access to information) project of the government, run by Sonali Bank and supported by Finance ministry, said a statement.
