In a landmark achievement for Bangladesh's tech industry, homegrown platform Convay has been selected as the official virtual collaboration tool for the G20's Sustainable Infrastructure Development Symposium (SIDSSA) 2025 in South Africa, surpassing global competitors like Zoom and Google Meet.

The two-day summit, attended by ministers and policymakers from 27 nations, marked the first time a Bangladeshi digital product has supported high-level diplomatic discussions, according to a press statement of developing firm of Convay.

Convay provided seamless video conferencing with real-time transcription in five languages, including English, Bangla, French, Portuguese, and Spanish.

Developed by Synesis IT, Convay was built by engineers from BUET and other top Bangladeshi universities. Unlike standard video tools, it offers specialised features for institutional use, including AI-generated meeting summaries and low-bandwidth optimisation.

"We always believed Convay could compete globally," said Al Amru Bil Maruf, a Convay engineer. "Seeing it used at a G20 event proves Bangladeshi solutions can meet world standards."

The platform's selection follows Synesis IT's previous international successes, including awards for its biometric verification system. However, Convay's role in high-stakes diplomacy represents a new milestone.

"This shows our local innovations have global relevance," said ASM Nurun Nabi, Synesis IT's chief business officer.

"When we solve Bangladesh's tech challenges, we often create solutions useful worldwide,"

The achievement signals Bangladesh's growing presence in the global tech landscape. With interest emerging from multiple continents, Convay demonstrates how Bangladeshi products can transition from serving local needs to competing internationally. Convay's G20 debut may be remembered as the moment Bangladesh stepped onto the global tech stage as an innovator rather than just an implementer.

The team remains focused on development at their Dhaka headquarters, proving global tech leadership can emerge from unexpected places. For Bangladesh's digital ambitions, this is just the beginning.
