Mobile network disruptions have been reported across several areas of the Chittagong Hill Tracts due to acts of sabotage, according to mobile operator Robi.
In a press release received on Thursday, the company said vandals had severed power supplies and fiber optic cables at numerous mobile towers over the last three months.
Nearly 50 towers have been shut down as a result, it added.
The disruptions have affected areas including Khagrachhari, Rangamati, Lakshmichhari, Panchhari, Dighinala, Manikchhari, Naniarchar, Raozan, Fatikchhari, and Baghaichhari.
Law enforcement agencies, EDOTCO security teams, and local administrations are working to resolve the situation, while EDOTCO and Robi teams are conducting daily joint reviews to monitor progress.
Amid the ongoing crisis, Robi has urged the relevant authorities to take urgent action to restore the affected mobile towers and improve security in the region.
