Two players from Australia’s women’s cricket team were allegedly stalked and sexually harassed during their stay in India for the ICC Women’s World Cup.

According to the Indian Express, the players were walking in from their hotel in Indore to a café on Thursday morning when a motorcyclist “inappropriately touched them”.

Cricket Australia said in a statement that the two cricketers were approached and touched inappropriately. The team security immediately reported the matter to police, who are now investigating.

Police later identified the suspect as Aqueel Khan, who was arrested on Thursday night after a witness recorded his motorcycle’s registration number.

Officers said he has a history of criminal cases and they are reviewing his past record.

Australia wrapped up the opening phase of the Women’s World Cup on Saturday at the top of the table, after crushing South Africa by seven wickets, bowling them out for 97.

They will now face India in the second semi-final in Navi Mumbai on Thursday.
