The Bangabandhu National Stadium has been renamed National Stadium, Dhaka, the National Sports Council said in a statement on Saturday.
The move marks the first time the interim government has renamed a national-level stadium.
Built in 1954, the stadium was long known as Dhaka Stadium.
After coming to power in 1996, the Awami League renamed it to Bangabandhu National Stadium in 1998.
