Chandika Hathurusingha, the head coach of the Bangladesh cricket team, has been suspended by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
BCB president Faruque Ahmed in an official press conference at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur announced his suspension on Tuesday.
"We have served him a show-cause notice before the suspension. He has been asked to respond to this notice within 48 hours. After that, his contract will be suspended. Until the Champions Trophy, Phil Simmons will serve as the interim head coach," he said.
The contract with Hathurusingha was for two years, until the Champions Trophy scheduled for February next year.
However, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has decided to part ways with him before that.
