Bangladesh put on a disastrous total of 73 runs against Australia in their 5th match of Super 12s in the T20 World Cup 2021.

Losing the toss, Bangladesh sent Mohammad Naim and Liton Das, their regular T20 openers to bat. Mitchell Starc struck in the very first over, swinging it into Liton Das and hitting the stumps after Liton inside-edged it.

Hazlewood did almost the same to Soumya in the very next over. Mushfiqur was given out lbw to Maxwell, just before Naim and Afif joined the party of going back to the dressing room as soon as they could. After 7 overs, Bangladesh were 38/5 and in deep trouble.

After a 29-run partnership between Shamim and Mahmudullah, 3 wickets fell within 3 runs. Adam Zampa bowled his career-best T20I spell, as he picked up 5 wickets conceding just 19 runs.

Bangladesh were all out for just 73 with 5 overs remaining.

Starc and Hazlewood picked up 2 wickets each and Maxwell picked up the wicket of Mushfiqur Rahim. For Bangladesh, the highest scorer was Mahmudullah (19). 8 batsmen couldn’t reach the double figures.
