Bangladesh women thrash Kazakhstan to clinch bronze in U18 Asia Cup hockey

The Bangladesh Under-18 women’s hockey team have emerged victorious in their last match of the Asia Cup, brushing aside Kazakhstan to earn the bronze medal for the first time in the competition.
The red and green brigade defeated Kazakhstan 6-2 on Sunday in China’s Dazhu.
Airin Riya scored a hat-trick. Sharika Rimon, Kona Akter and Riyasha Rishi found the net once each.
The girls started the pool stage with an 11-0 loss against Japan. Then, they secured a spot in the top four by beating Uzbekistan and Hong Kong.
Sunday’s win followed a 9-0 loss to China, which ended their hopes of reaching the final.
On the same day, the Bangladesh Under-18 boys team lost 5-2 to Malaysia in the clash for a third place in the male tournament.
