Bashundhara Kings reach quarterfinals of Federation Cup football

Star-studded Bashundhara Kings smartly reached the quarterfinals of the 32nd Federation Cup Football 2020 as the Group C champions beating Chittagong Abahani 1-0 in a group-deciding match on Monday, UNB reports.

After a barren first half, Argentine booter Raul Oscar scored the match winning goal for the big- budgeted Kings in the 49th minute of the match, utilising a left wing corner of Brazilian footballer Fernandes at the Bangabandu National Stadium here Monday evening.

Chittagong Abahani Ltd had earlier ensured the quarterfinal berth like the Bashundhara Kings with one match to spare beating all-losers Rahmatganj MFS by 1-0 goal in their first match last Friday. 

Holders Kings made a flying start outplaying Rahmatganj MFS by 3-0 goals in the tournament opener.

On completion of all the Group C matches, Kings clinched top slot securing full six points, Chittagong Abahani finished runners-up with three points while last times runners- up Rahmatganj MFS made their early exit from the meet empty-handed.

In the quarter finals, Bashundhara Kings will play Group A runners-up on January 3 at 4 pm while Group C runners-up Chittagong Abahani will play Group A champions on January 1, also at 4 pm.
