When Julian Nagelsmann took over Bayern Munich, expectations from him were high. He inherited Hansi Flick's invincible squad and being someone with a lot of aptitude in the tactical side of the game, Bayern fans expected the team will become more dynamic and get rid of the problems in defence under him.

But only about a year later, Nagelsmann has been thrown under the bus by the fans for his tactical mishaps which led to a disastrous result against Villarreal, a draw which Bayern were supposed to get over quite easily.

Robert Lewandowski, the team's poster boy for the last few seasons, has been linked with a move away from the club to Barcelona as he is supposedly unhappy with the sporting project as well as his current financial situation.

Criticisms have also followed sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic, whose much-publicised brawl with Hansi Flick led to the latter leaving the club for the German National Team.

In the history of Bayern Munich, this crisis is quite unprecedented as they have always been regarded as a club with well-defined goals, mottoes and financial prospects. And with their monopoly in the German top flight, they were ensured with at least one title per season.

Although they are most likely to win the Bundesliga, the internal crisis within the team is affecting the overall scenario regarding the club.

Julian Nagelsmann has failed to utilise Dayot Upamecano and Marcel Sabitzer properly, two of the players that he acquired from his old stint at Leipzig. His over-dependence on a three-man backline has also come under a lot of criticism as Bayern being a team are more suited to a 4 man backline.

The club's frugal attitude when it comes to the purchasing of players has also widely been criticised by the fans. The club is in dire need of a right-wing back in Nagelsmann's system but the authority has rejected the proposal citing Covid financial situation despite the fact that Bayern did not face any substantial losses during the period.

The club seldom make big money moves and are quite complacent with winning the Bundesliga, much to the outrage of many global fans who want their team to do well frequently on the European Stage.

Overall, Bayern Munich are in a precarious situation at this moment with almost everything regarding the momentum of the club. It would be quite interesting to see how the club deals with these situations in the coming days.
