Faruk Ahmed has been removed as President of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) after a dramatic turn of events on Thursday evening.
Despite earlier stating he would not resign voluntarily, Ahmed lost his position following a no-confidence motion from eight out of ten BCB directors.
The motion, addressed to Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, cited dissatisfaction with Ahmed’s leadership. Speculation about his departure had been circulating throughout the day, which intensified after the directors’ letter.
Later in the evening, the government officially issued a notification removing Faruk Ahmed from his role as a National Sports Council (NSC) quota director.
Since the BCB presidency is contingent upon NSC directorship, his dismissal from the NSC post effectively ended his tenure as BCB President.
