A general diary (GD) has been filed with the Mirpur Model Police Station against cricketer Taskin Ahmed, accusing him of assaulting and threatening a friend after calling him over the phone.
The incident allegedly took place on Sunday night in Mirpur-1, and the complaint was lodged later that same night.
Police officials declined to comment officially on the matter. However, a source at the station confirmed that a complaint had indeed been filed against Taskin and that an investigation is already underway.
According to the complaint, Taskin summoned the plaintiff, Sifatur Rahman Sourav, assaulted him, and issued threats.
Police sources indicated that Taskin and the complainant were known to be friends.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Director and Chairman of the Media Committee, Iftikhar Ahmed Mithu told Jagonews24 that he had spoken directly with Taskin Ahmed regarding the allegation.
According to Mithu, Taskin told him, "I am not directly involved in this incident. There was a fight between two groups of my friends. One side requested me to call the Mirpur Police Station, so I contacted the Officer-in-Charge (OC). As a result, the other side became angry and filed a GD against me. But I had no involvement in the incident itself."
Responding to Taskin's statement, the Media Committee Chairman said, "We are observing the situation closely. The BCB will speak with the OC of Mirpur Police Station and the complainant. We will decide on the next steps after evaluating the situation."
