The International Cricket Council (ICC) has banned Bangladesh national women’s cricket team member Shohely Akhter from all forms of cricket for five years for breaching provisions of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code.

According to a press release issued by the ICC on Tuesday, the offspinner was found guilty of attempting to fix, offering a bribe and failing to disclose full details of an approach to the ICC's Anti-Corruption Code (ACU). She was also accused of obstructing the investigation.

Shohaly, who played two ODIs and 13 T20Is, admitted the charges and accepted a sanction of a five-year period of ineligibility starting 10 February 2025.

News portals said she is believed to be the first international women's cricketer to be banned on charges of corruption.
