India's captain Rohit Sharma achieved another milestone, becoming the sixth Indian and 15th overall in the world to amass 10,000 runs in One Day International (ODI) cricket. Rohit's remarkable feat was achieved during India's Asia Cup Super 4 clash against Sri Lanka.

The 34-year-old Indian skipper reached this milestone in style, sending a delivery from Sri Lanka's Kasun Rajitha sailing over the boundary ropes for a six in the seventh over of the innings.

Rohit Sharma's accomplishment comes just a day after his compatriot and former captain, Virat Kohli, claimed the distinction of becoming the fastest batter to surpass the 13,000-run mark in ODI cricket, doing so in a record-breaking 267 innings.

Notably, Rohit completed his 10,000 runs in a mere 241 innings, making him the second-fastest to achieve this remarkable feat, closely trailing behind Kohli's incredible record of 205 innings.

Joining an exclusive club of Indian cricket legends, Rohit Sharma now stands alongside the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, and MS Dhoni, all of whom have scaled the 10,000-run peak in the ODI format.

Sachin Tendulkar leads the pack with 18,426 runs, followed by the modern great Virat Kohli at 13,026 runs, Sourav Ganguly with 11,363 runs, Rahul Dravid at 10,889 runs, and MS Dhoni with 10,773 runs.

The opener, renowned for his elegant strokeplay, is the only player in cricket history to score three double centuries in 50-over cricket. His monumental innings of 264 against Sri Lanka at Eden Gardens in November 2014 remains an ODI record for the highest individual score.

Rohit's first ODI double century came against Australia in November 2013 when he amassed 209 runs. Four years later, in December 2017, he replicated his extraordinary feat, scoring an unbeaten 208 against Sri Lanka at Mohali.

Moreover, Rohit Sharma's prolific run-scoring ability has seen him accumulate a remarkable tally of 30 centuries in the ODI format. This places him in joint-third position alongside former Australian captain Ricky Ponting for hitting the most ODI hundreds, further solidifying his reputation as one of the modern greats of limited-overs cricket.
