As many as thirteen Bangladeshi cricketers have undergone registration to participate in the upcoming IPL auction. The mega event is set to be held in Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah on Nov 24 and 25.

A total of 1,574 cricketers have registered for the auction, including 1,165 Indian players and 409 foreign players, the IPL authorities announced in a statement on Tuesday.

The authorities have not disclosed the names of the players in the initial list yet. All of the initially registered players will not be called up for the auction. A final list will be announced later considering the demand of the franchises.

Each franchise will be allowed to retain a squad of up to 25 players where among them 10 franchises have already retained 46 players from the previous season. It means only 204 players will be able to find teams from the new auction.

Among the foreign players, the highest 91 players have undergone registration from South Africa, followed by 76 from Australia. Besides, 52 players will be in from England, 39 from New Zealand, 33 from the West Indies and 29 each from Afghanistan and Sri Lanka.

Even, the list has allowed 12 players registered from Netherlands, 10 from US, 4 from Canada and 1 each from UAE and Italy.

The IPL auction will be held consecutively for the second time outside India while last season’s auction took place in Dubai.

Authorities gave deadline to franchises until Oct 31 to submit the list of the retained players. Sunrisers Hyderabad have retained South African wicket-keeper batsman Heinrich Klaasen for the maximum price of 230 million rupees while Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants have retained batting stalwart Virat Kohli and Nicholas Pooran for a joint second-highest 210 million rupees.

The franchises have released notable players like KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan, Glenn Maxwell, David Warner, Faf du Plessis, Jos Buttler, Mitchell Starc and David Miller including KKR’s last time title-winning skipper Shreyas Iyer. They can be up for bidding in the auction as well.
