England have won the first game of three-match one-day international (ODI) series against Bangladesh at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka on Wednesday.
The England team chased a 210-run target in 48.4 overs losing seven wickets, riding on a century from Dawid Malan.
Earlier, the hosts won the toss and elected to bat first in their opening game of the series. The visitors bowled out Bangladesh for 209 runs in 47.2 overs.
Bangladesh’s left-hand batter Najmul Hossain Shanto struck his maiden half-century. He scored 58 runs off 82 against a much-vaunted bowling attack from England. The top scorer of the recently-ended BPL came to bat at the number three position and hit six boundaries in his innings, which gave the side a platform.
