Carlo Ancelotti, the veteran Italian football manager, expressed his joy on Tuesday at extending his tenure as the head coach of Real Madrid until 2026.

This decision comes despite a tempting approach to take over as the coach of the Brazilian national football team.

In a press conference on the eve of Real Madrid's La Liga clash against Mallorca, Ancelotti disclosed the details of his interaction with the Brazilian Football Federation.

"Everyone knows that I had contact with the president of the Brazilian federation. I want to thank him for the affection and interest he showed towards me," he stated.

Speculation had been rife since July last year that the 64-year-old tactician would make history by becoming the first foreigner to coach Brazil in nearly 60 years.

However, Ancelotti chose to commit his future to Real Madrid, penning a new deal with the Spanish giants.

Ancelotti, who boasts an illustrious coaching career, emphasized his dedication to Real Madrid.

Having secured the prestigious UEFA Champions League four times — twice with AC Milan and twice with Real Madrid — he expressed his desire to extend his stay beyond the current agreement.

"In 2026, depending on my results, I may still be there. I want to be the coach of Madrid (...) and I hope to be able to continue being that in 2027 and 2028 because I want to stay here," Ancelotti declared.

The experienced manager has triumphed in European competitions and clinched domestic league titles in Spain and Italy with Real Madrid and AC Milan, respectively. His managerial success extends to England with Chelsea, Germany with Bayern Munich, and France with Paris Saint-Germain.

While the Real Madrid fans are delighted at the news as they want to see their favourite youngsters grow under the supervision of the vateran coach, Brazilian fans were surely not impressed by Carlo's decision.
