Luis Suarez, the Uruguayan striker, made his debut appearance before the media as an Inter Miami player. During a press conference, the charismatic forward shared his thoughts on reuniting with former Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi, Jordi Alba, and Sergio Busquets.
"I didn't imagine we would be together again because I thought Leo would finish his career at Barcelona," Suarez admitted, adding a touch of nostalgia to his reflections on their time with the Blaugrana.
"In 2019, we imagined winning everything at Barcelona and dreamed of retiring there. First, I left, and then they all left after me."
Despite the physical distance between the quartet, the upcoming Clasico has become a focal point on their calendars. Suarez revealed, "We haven't talked about it yet, but we're certainly going to meet up to watch it because we like football, we like Barcelona, and a Super Cup final is always nice to see. You know which team we will be rooting for. I wish the club and some of my teammates there all the best."
Addressing Barcelona's current challenges, Suarez showed understanding, stating, "The team is under construction, with a lot of new players, and it's difficult. But little by little, all the problems they have will be solved." He emphasised the importance of the Super Cup final for Barcelona's morale and emotions.
One of the decisive factors in Suarez's move to Inter Miami was the personal aspect, with Messi, Alba, and Busquets speaking highly of the city and the club. Suarez shared their sentiments: "Everyone has their own life and family. They spoke to me very well; they are very happy."
Reflecting on the required personal adjustments, Suarez acknowledged Busquets and Alba's challenges, stating, "Sergio was leaving for the first time, and the change can be a bit difficult, but today he told me that the children are fine, that's important. Jordi too, after so many years in Barcelona, a big change, three children, it's difficult."
The official Inter Miami Instagram account captured a moment of the four players together, with the caption, 'nothing better than playing football with friends.' Suarez expressed his happiness at the reunion, saying, "It's nice, remembering the great moments we had together at the club we all dreamed of, Barcelona."
Looking ahead, Suarez is optimistic about the future with Inter Miami, stating, "We have to dream big and why not dream of four titles. It's up to us; we have to show it on the pitch."
