The Premier League transfer window is in full swing, with a number of clubs and players making moves early to prepare for the upcoming season. This week, several England internationals are reportedly close to moves to pastures new.
Here's a roundup of the latest transfer news.
ARSENAL CLOSE IN ON MAUDEKE
Arsenal are looking to seal a deal to sign Chelsea forward Noni Madueke, Sky Sports reports.
The London rivals have reportedly agreed a fee worth over £50 million, including add-ons.
Madueke joined Chelsea from PSV Eindhoven for £29 million in January 2023, and has five years left on his contract with the Blues. However, as Chelsea has kept strengthening, many players like Madueke are considering their futures at the club.
The Englishman has seven international caps and has scored 20 goals in 92 games for the reigning UEFA Conference League winners.
GIBBS-WHITE SET FOR SPURS MEDICAL
Nottingham Forest captain Morgan Gibbs-White is set to have a medical at Tottenham Hotspur on Friday before completing a £60 million move to the Europa League champions, BBC Sport reports.
The North London club are set to trigger the midfielder’s £60 million release clause in the next 24 hours, according to the report.
Gibbs-White, with four England appearances, notched seven goals and eight assists in 34 Premier League matches last season. Several top English clubs have recently shown interest, but Tottenham have intensified its pursuit.
Spurs, under new head coach Thomas Frank, have also secured Mohammed Kudus from West Ham for £55 million and are eyeing Brentford’s Yoane Wissa.
Gibbs-White signed for Nottingham Forest from Wolves in August 2022 for a club-record £25 million plus add-ons, signing a five-year contract. He has since played 118 matches for Forest, scoring 18 goals and registering 28 assists.
BRENTFORD SET TO SIGN HENDERSON
Jordan Henderson is set to sign for Brentford after his exit from Ajax earlier this week, BBC Sport reports.
The 35-year-old will sign a two-year contract with Brentford after the Dutch giants agreed to terminate his deal a year early.
Despite interest from major clubs in England and Europe, Brentford have won the race to sign the former Liverpool skipper.
Returning to the Premier League offers Henderson a chance to remain in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad ahead of next year’s summer World Cup.
The England midfielder, who has 84 caps for the national side, will fill the void left by former Bees captain Christian Norgaard, who recently joined Arsenal.
The transfer is expected to be finalised in the next few days.
