West Ham United have reached an agreement to sign Callum Wilson on a free transfer following the striker’s departure from Newcastle United.
The 33-year-old has completed his medical and is set to join the east London club on a one-year contract, The Athletic reports.
Wilson became a free agent on Jun 30 after Newcastle opted not to extend his contract. While discussions were held over a new contract, the two parties were unable to find common ground.
The forward joined Newcastle from Bournemouth in the summer of 2020, reuniting with former manager Eddie Howe, and went on to score 49 goals in 130 appearances.
His arrival at West Ham comes as the club looks to fill the void left by Michail Antonio, their record Premier League goalscorer, who exited at the end of his contract in June.
