Bangladesh lost their two opening batsman early in the Group A match against Australia at the Oval on Monday.

 

Brief score: Bangladesh 37/2 in 10.2 overs v Australia

Opener Soumya Sarkar was caught by Matthew Wade off the bowling of Josh Hazlewood scording only 3 runs from 11 balls while Imrul Kayes returned to the pavilion making 6 off 16 balls.

Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first.

The Tigers replaced Mosaddek Hossain with prodigious Mehedi Hasan Miraz to strengthen their bowling attack at The Oval on Monday.

Australia called up spinner Adam Zampa in place of John Hastings.

The Tigers lost to hosts England in their opener while Australia’s opening game against New Zealand washed out.

The two teams meet in a 50-over game for the first time since 2011. Bangladesh have beaten Australia only once, in Cardiff 2005.
