Bangladesh enjoy an expected comfortable win against Papua New Guinea (PNG) by 84 runs, their biggest ever in the T20 format, in their final qualifier game. With this win, the Tigers are through to the next round regardless of the result of the Oman vs Scotland game with a superior net run rate.

Chasing 182, PNG never really could find their ground, losing 4 wickets within 5 overs and only 14 runs on the board.

They couldn’t fashion anything even after that. Only Kipling Doriga (46 off 34) and Chad Soper (11 off 12) could reach double figures. Doriga's lone efforts could only reduce the margin of defeat.

Shakib Al Hasan took 4 wickets and touched Shahid Afridi’s all-time record for the most wickets (39) in the World T20s.

Saifuddin and Taskin both bagged 2 wickets each while Mahedi got 1 to his name.

Earlier, Bangladesh batted first winning the toss and managed to get 181 runs on board which proved too big for PNG in the end.

Mahmudullah scored a dashing 50(28) after Shakib's cautious innings of 46(37). Afif (21 off 14) and Saifuddin (16 off 9) played their part to accelerate. Vala, More and Ravu took 2 wickets each for PNG.

Shakib Al Hasan became the Man Of The Match for his all-round performance. This was his second MOTM award in this tournament and 6th consecutive match-winning performance for Bangladesh in their last 6 wins in any ICC event.

Final score: BAN 181/7 (20); PNG 97 (19.3)
